A Minivan Family...

Are families as they get larger forced into buying specific types of vehicles? I question this as J-Mom and I never thought we would ever be considering buying a minivan. We always laughed and stated that we would never even consider this. Though now that we have 2 kids, the minivan discussion has begun.

This all started when we came to realize that if we ever had family or friends over there was no way for us to be able to all go somewhere together without taking two vehicles. With the fact that both of our vehicles will only carry 5 passengers, and with 2 car seats (which as all of you probably know are HUGE!) there is simply no room for more than 4 people in the vehicles at any one time.

Thus we began our research... and we came up with two that fit our criteria for safety and features. The Toyota Sienna...

And the Honda Odyssey...

So we started to compare and amazingly they are actually pretty comparable. Not that Toyota and Honda would want you to know this, but aside from actual design, features, safety and the like are pretty much equal on both vehicles. So we still are not a minivan family...yet...but I think it is a forgone conclusion that eventually this Dad of Divas will be driving a minivan.

What are your thoughts????

Nooooooooooo, don't do it!

LOL - I have the same problem. We currently live 800 miles from family and friends, and when someone visits, 2 cars (or squeezing myself into the 8" gap between car seats - not recommended) is the only choice.

Aside from the "uncool" stigma that seems to be attached to owning one, they are very family friendly. How is the gas mileage?

Peace,

I have to say that I love minivans. I don't love our current one as much as the first one that we had, but it's also older and has less features. I'm a Chrysler fan though - I don't know much about the foreign models. Good luck finding the right van for your family! :)
